Bengals re-sign tight end Alex Smith

The Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed tight end Alex Smith.

Smith was an unrestricted free agent whose contract expired after last season.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder from Stanford is entering his 10th NFL season.

He caught 13 passes for 47 yards last season.

He has recuperated from a dislocated wrist suffered in the regular-season finale and is healthy now.

For his career, Smith has 160 catches for 1,461 yards and a dozen touchdowns.

“Alex played significant snaps for us last year, and it’s good to get him back in the fold,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. “He’s ready to go physically, and it’s mini-camp week, so he jumps right back in there for us.”
