Bengals' Williams suspended, cuts made to 53
The Cincinnati Bengals made a flurry of moves to get down to the 53-man limit on Saturday, including having to place guard Bobbie Williams on the NFL suspended list for four games for violating the league's performance enhancing substances policy.
In other Bengals moves, cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was placed on the physically unable to perform list, thanks to a neck injury that occurred before the opening of training camp. That puts him out of action for at least the first six weeks of the year.
The Bengals placed linebacker Keith Rivers (wrist) on the non-football injury list. Like Jones, he will have to wait until at least week six to return to practice. Both players may attend meetings and continue to rehab their injuries.
Cincinnati also placed tight end Bo Scaife (neck) and linebacker Rodderick Muckelroy (Achilles) on injured reserve and released vested veterans defensive end Victor Adeyanju, guard Max Jean-Gilles and cornerback Jonathan Wade.
The following players were put on release waivers: FB Fui Vakapuna, CB Brandon Ghee, QB Dan LeFevour, CB Rico Murray, TE John Nalbone, DT Jason Shirley, FB James Develin, CB David Pender, DE James Ruffin, WR Calvin Russell, DT Cornell Banks, LB DeQuin Evans, HB Jay Finley, HB John Griffin, WR Andrew Hawkins, CB Korey Lindsey, OT Matthew O’Donnell, G Chris Riley and K Thomas Weber.
