Bengals working on contract extension for Vontaze Burfict

The Cincinnati Bengals are making progress as they continue negotiating a potential contract extension for Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict, according to FOX Sports.

Burfict is a former undrafted free agent from Arizona State who has developed into one of the top defenders in the NFL.

Burfict dropped out of the draft entirely due to discipline issues and poor workouts.

Last season, Burfict had 171 tackles, three sacks and an interception.

The Bengals don't have to sign Burfict to a new deal since he's already under contract, but a long-term deal makes a lot of sense given his improvement.
