Berrian fined for wearing yellow cleats

Many wide receivers are divas.

Some, like Bernard Berrian of the Minnesota Vikings, are fashion divas too.

Berrian made a statement last Sunday when he wore yellow cleats and the NFL responded exactly like he expected, fining the veteran $5,000 for violating league policy. Vikings players are permitted to wear black or purple cleats, not bright yellow.

Berrian tweeted that he was going to wear the cleats last week, and that he knew he would be fined for doing so. Considering the receiver had been wearing his invisible cleats previously this season, maybe he’ll want to reconsider stashing them at the back of his closet? Berrian had a breakout game with nine receptions for 89 yards in the overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals. That matched his production in the previous seven games.

Why players would knowingly violate NFL rules is a little bit of a head scratcher, but it’s hard to figure out divas all the time.
