Big Ben in boot; Batch preparing to start

Ben Roethlisberger limped away from the Pittsburgh Steelers practice facility with a walking boot on his left ankle and did not address reporters on Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that veteran backup Charlie Batch is preparing as if he will start Monday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers, but Batch and everyone else knows that you never count Roethlisberger out.

"Being that the game is on Monday, it wouldn't surprise me if I found out on Monday," Batch said.

Roethlisberger suffered the injury last Thursday against Cleveland, but returned to finish the game with a noticeable limp. Roethlisberger was later diagnosed with a Grade 1 high ankle sprain.
