Biggs: 49ers granted roster exemption for Crabtree

The San Francisco 49ers have been granted a two-week roster exemption for wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Crabtree’s exemption will expire Oct. 19, a period that covers only one game for the Niners, who host Atlanta on Sunday before a bye in Week 6. That means his first appearance in a game could be Oct. 25 at Houston.

It’s expected San Francisco will use the bye this week as they get him up to speed. This will give the team some time to decide what corresponding roster move to make in order to create room for the first-round draft pick. He is eligible to practice.
