Biggs: Bears sign Angulo, Peterman
Mike Martz has found a player he’s familiar with and he’s added a guy that new Chicago Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice really knows.
The Bears signed tight end Richard Angulo to a one-year contract today, also adding wide receiver Eric Peterman on a one-year deal. Peterman was with the Bears last summer in training camp and had a short stint on the practice squad at the end of the season.
Angulo was with the Bears practice squad for a time in 2006, but he was drafted out of Western New Mexico in the seventh round in 2003 by Martz and the St. Louis Rams. He played under Tice in Minnesota and then in Jacksonville. Angulo, 6-8, 272 pounds, was out of the league last season.
The Bears are believed to be looking for a solid blocker and Angulo could fill that role.
