Biggs: Bears will interview Chudzinski
The Chicago Bears are expected to interview Ron Chudzinski for their vacant offensive coordinator position in the next 24 hours, the Chicago Tribune has reported.
Chudzinski, the assistant head coach for the San Diego Chargers, has apparently been granted permission from Chargers coach Norv Turner to meet with the Bears and discuss the job that was previously held by Turner’s brother, Ron Turner, before he was fired along with three offensive position coaches on Jan. 5.
Chudzinski previously served as an offensive coordinator in Cleveland under coach Romeo Crennel, and Derek Anderson went to a Pro Bowl playing for him. He’s been credited for his work with tight ends when he was at the University of Miami, namely Bubba Franks, Jeremy Shockey and Kellen Winslow Jr.
The Bears have already met with Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese for the job. They hired Mike Tice as the offensive line coach last Friday. Coach Lovie Smith still needs to hire a quarterbacks coach, tight ends coach and defensive coordinator. On Tuesday, he met with Mike DeBord about being the next tight ends coach.
