Biggs: Bucs promote CB to take Gaines Adams' place
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t waste any time filling the roster spot of departed defensive end Gaines Adams by signing cornerback Derrick Roberson from the practice squad.
Roberson was originally signed to the practice squad on Sept. 15. The Rutgers product was in training camp with Minnesota and previously spent time in Houston.
The beneficiary to the Adams’ trade, which netted the Bucs the Bears’ second-round draft pick in 2010, would appear to be Stylez G. White, who could get the first crack at the starting lineup. Rookie Kyle Moore could also be in the mix. He is reported to be close to returning from a knee injury. But it is going to be pass rush by committee for a Tampa team that is in a full-fledged rebuilding mode.
Now, it’s just a matter of time before the club turns the keys over to rookie quarterback Josh Freeman. Our best guess? The Nov. 8 date with Green Bay at Raymond James Stadium. It comes after the team’s trip to London to play New England, and the bye that follows would could be an international beatdown.
