Biggs: Bucs' Smith to seek 2nd opinion on concussions

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Clifton Smith will undergo outside testing for concussions he has suffered this season.

The Bucs replaced the former Pro Bowl return man on injured reserve following his second concussion, which happened earlier this month in a loss to Carolina. He was originally injured against the Panthers when he was drilled illegally by Dante Wesley on a pun return.

Smith said the second concussion was not as bad as the initial one, but he is still going outside the team to get checked out, a move that probably isn’t a bad idea.

"It was the second one and they (Bucs team doctors) didn't know how I was going to react to it," Smith said. "As the game went along, I knew what happened. They pretty much felt like the first one was more severe than this one."
