Biggs: Cardinals lose DB coach to Gators

The Florida Gators have found a defensive coordinator. Again.

Teryl Austin, the secondary coach of the Arizona Cardinals, has agreed to join the Gators a week after George Edwards split for the Buffalo Bills after just a month on the job. Austin returns to the college ranks after working in the NFL for the last seven years with the Cardinals and previously the Seattle Seahawks. The move was first reported by Mike Jurecki of Xtra Sports in Phoenix. The National Football Post was the first to report Austin’s candidacy for the job before he interviewed on Wednesday.

The Cardinals will now have to venture out and find a defensive backs coach. They have a solid candidate on staff in Rick Courtright. He’s been with the Cardinals for the last six seasons and spent the last three as the assistant defensive backs coach under Austin.
