Biggs: Chiefs hire two coaches

MOBILE, Ala.—The Kansas City Chiefs have made some big hires this offseason, adding Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel to Todd Haley’s staff, but some important vacancies remained and the organization has made moves to fill them.

League sources tell the National Football Post that Antony Pleasant has been hired as the defensive line coach and Bernie Parmalee will join the team as the tight ends coach.

Pleasant is a 14-year NFL veteran who spent his final three seasons with the New England Patriots where general manager Scott Pioli was. Both Pleasant and Parmalee spent time with the New York Jets when Haley was on the scouting and coaching staffs there.

Pleasant will work with a group where the Chiefs have invested heavily recently with draft picks. They have used first-round choices on Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey the last two years.

Parmalee worked under Weis at Notre Dame and is credited for helping develop tight ends John Carlson and Anthony Fasano.
