Biggs: DeCamillis skipping combine to focus on recovery
The unfortunate and unnecessary collapse of the Dallas Cowboys practice facility last spring will prevent special teams coach Joe DeCamillis from attending the scouting combine in Indianapolis next week, reports David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
DeCamillis is is still battling regular pain in his neck and back from his injuries sustained in the accident in the practice facility. He had four fractured vertebrare in his lower cervical and upper thoracic spine. DeCamillis has traveled to a rehabilitation hospital in Atlanta and told Moore that his program will being next week. The specialists – kickers, punters and long snappers – are in the first group at the combine.
"It might be my impatience, but I want to do all I can to get some of this pain to go away,' DeCamillis said. "With another set of eyes, maybe they can do something.”
No word on whether or not DeCamillis has received a job for life from Jerry Jones. Scout Rich Behm was paralyzed from the waist down in the accident also.
