Biggs: Destruction of Giants Stadium begins today
Whether your memories of Giants Stadium involve the Giants, the Jets, or New Jersey Generals, say goodbye to the building. The wrecking ball will begin taking the structure down today.
It’s not going to come down in one fell swoop though.
A massive crane will begin taking the stadium down slowly, starting at the top, so portions of the building will remain well into the summer. Portions of the stadium are being sold for scrap while seats and other memorabilia are also being sold.
The new stadium, across the parking lot, will open in September and is slated to be the third-largest in the league behind Dallas and Washington. It will seat 82,500 fans and have 222 suites.
