Biggs: Did Dominik swipe a player from Seahawks?
If the Seattle Seahawks were trying to stash defensive lineman Michael Bennett on the street for the weekend like they did with fullback Justin Griffith the week before, their plan was foiled.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed Bennett off waivers from Seattle, the club announced. Bennett had been released on Saturday to make room for offensive tackle Kyle Williams, who the Seahawks promoted from their practice squad for the second straight week with Sean Locklear out with a high ankle sprain and the season of veteran Walter Jones in jeopardy. After promoting Williams last week, they cut him to put him back on the practice squad and then re-signed Griffith. If it was in their plans, they didn’t get a chance to re-sign Bennett as the Bucs scooped him up.
The Bucs released offensive lineman Marc Dile to make room for Bennett, an undrafted free agent from Texas A&M. He played well in preseason and Bucs general manager Mark Dominik, who was groomed under Seahawks execs Tim Ruskell and Ruston Webster when they were in Tampa, must have taken notice.
