Biggs: Dunta a freshly minted man
Maybe playing under the franchise tag last year wasn’t so bad for Dunta Robinson after all.
He wound up hitting it big just the same, and earning $9.96 million last season was just a prelude to bigger things. Adam Schefter of ESPN tweets that the cornerback’s six-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons totals $57 million with $25.5 million guaranteed. Proof, again, that good things (lots of them) come to those who wait.
The addition of Robinson, as we noted Friday, hopefully brings to an end a long search for stability at the position for the Falcons. They’ve plucked starters off the street, literally, at the start of the season the last two years. One of those finds, Brian Williams, is expected to start across from Robinson, giving Atlanta a solid pair. Now, the team will be able to focus efforts in the draft on the front seven or perhaps look for some offensive pieces. A pass rusher would be a quality addition.
