Biggs: Eagles aiming to Westbrook return Sunday
Early last week, the Philadelphia Eagles were pointing to a return for running back Brian Westbook in this last Sunday’s game vs. San Francisco.
That didn’t happen, but now it appears even more certain Westbrook will be on the field Sunday when the Eagles host the Denver Broncos and ex-Eagle Brian Dawkins at Lincoln Financial Field.
Westbrook has missed eight games this season as the result of two concussions this season, the last on Nov. 16 at San Diego. As Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports, the team has gone 7-1 without Westbrook. He notes that the offense has been more balanced without Westbrook, and the challenge will be getting him back into action and running the ball as the Eagles eye the postseason.
"Right now, it looks pretty good," coach Andy Reid said. "Just watching the last couple of weeks here out at practice, the next step, if all goes well here in the next couple of days, is to get him back in the game and see what he can do there.’’
