Biggs: Eagles look to Canada for a running back

If Brian Westbrook indeed retires, the Philadelphia Eagles have already started building some depth behind LeSean McCoy.

The team announced that it has signed the CFL’s Most Outstanding rookie to a contract, inking Martell Mallett. He was a member of the West Division all-star team for the British Columbia Lions. He rushed for 1,280 yards and six touchdowns last season, averaging 5.8 yards per carry, and also caught 43 passes for 342 yards and two scores.

Mallett is an Arkansas-Pine Bluff product, and he was a first-team SWAC pick as a senior in 2008.
