Biggs: Falcons' WR keeps arrest secret, for a month
Apparently, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Eric Weems thought he could get arrested and charged with DUI and the team would not find out about it.
He was right.
His secret lasted nearly a month, and then the lid came off the whole thing on Tuesday.
Weems was arrested in DeKalb County, Ga., on Nov. 16, and he posted $1,100 bond.
"We became aware of Eric's situation on Tuesday morning," coach Mike Smith said Wednesday night, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We don't like these kinds of incidents and we're disappointed."
Weems, an undrafted rookie free agent, serves as the team’s kick returner. He issued a statement saying he was embarrassed and he apologized.
