Biggs: Foote would be ideal fit for Redskins
In yet another sign that the Washington Redskins are hiding from no one their conversion to a 3-4 defense, the team will host free agent linebacker Larry Foote on Monday, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
It’s a perfect move for the Redskins, who uncharacteristically sat out free agency on Friday. The Redskins have focused their efforts on the offensive line, where they are looking for some veterans with experience they don’t have to overpay for, and now they’re going to bring in a linebacker with experience in the 3-4 scheme Jim Haslett is expected to install.
Foote spent this past season with his hometown Detroit Lions and was arguably their best linebacker. The Lions made the decision to go in a different direction and Foote would be a smart signing by the Redskins, who usually lead with their checkbook, not their head at this time of the year.
Foote reportedly will visit the Arizona Cardinals after he meets with the Redskins. Do you really think Washington will let him out the door without getting his name on a deal?
