Biggs: Fujita has surgery for staph infection
The New Orleans Saints escaped FedEx Field Sunday afternoon with their most narrow victory of the season, and from the sounds of things linebacker Scott Fujita has escaped from having a much more serious issue with his knee.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Fujita missed the trip because he remained in New Orleans to undergo emergency surgery to clean out a staph infection in his knee. A recovery time for Fujita remains unknown, and the report didn’t indicate when the surgery took place.
Fujita is hopeful to leave the hospital today. He told the newspaper that the infection developed after a bursa sac ruptured in his knee, and that he has dealt with bursitis in the past.
“I'm feeling much better after the operation,” Fujita said. “I can't even describe how bummed out I am. But I feel way better than I have in the last week.”
