Biggs: Furniture store employee with alligator fib fired
Looks like the Washington Redskins got more than the retraction they were demanding from the New York Post. They got more than that.
Claire Gozzo, who told the newspaper that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder ordered two alligator desks and matching chairs for his office at FedEx Field, has been fired from Giorgio’s Pal Beach furniture store on Madison Avenue. This reported, where else, but the New York Post.
The newspaper reported Tuesday that Snyder had bucked up big time for some fancy furniture. Problem is Snyder doesn’t have an office at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. The team’s headquarters is in Ashburn, Va. Then, of course, Snyder came out and said not only did he not own an alligator desk or chair, he didn’t own any alligator footwear. Hmm.
"I apologize to all concerned in this matter. I had no knowledge of this,” store owner George Sharoubim told the Post. “I never use the names of my customers and my employee lied. She has been terminated from the company."
A conspiracy theorist, if you know any, might suspect that the store planted the story for publicity. Just something to chew on.
