Biggs: Giants ditch another coach

First, defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan was asked to leave.

Now, the New York Giants have given the boot to line coach Mike Waufle, making him a fall guy for a unit that woefully underperformed as the season imploded.

The line was expected to be the strength of a talented group the Giants hoped would be every bit as dominating as it was under former coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who departed for St. Louis. Instead, the Giants looked like they had big investments in the wrong places as veterans Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck underperformed and newcomers Rocky Bernard and Chris Canty never took off.

There is a good chance the new line coach will not be chosen until after Tom Coughlin makes a decision on his new coordinator. Perry Fewell is scheduled to interview for the job on Thursday. There has been speculation that Coughlin will reunite with longtime friend Dick Jauron. It was Jauron who served as a defensive coordinator under Coughlin in Jacksonville.
