Biggs: Giants QB coach Palmer retires

The New York Giants made the big coaching hiring they needed to this offseason, winning a battle with the Chicago Bears for the services of defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.

Now, they’re going to have to go in search of another assistant as quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer has announced his retirement. He had worked for 20 years in the NFL and spent 38 years in the coaching profession total, including a stint as the head coach in Houston.

"I had a great run with the Giants," Palmer said in a statement released by the team. "I want to thank the Maras and the Tisches for three great years. I enjoyed my time there very much. And it was not only the players, but the people and the organization. It was a very, very good situation for me."

Eli Manning turned into a Pro Bowl quarterback and Super Bowl winner under Palmer. Now, the search for a replacement begins.
