Biggs: Heavy lifting begins for Seahawks
Fresh off their return from the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., the Seattle Seahawks will gather as a new staff starting today.
Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times reports that new coach Pete Carroll is gathering its staff and much work is to be done. The Seahawks have to go through the tedious process of self-scouting and at the same time get a handle on free agency, which opens in just more than a month, while also keeping an eye on the scouting combine later this month.
“I am really excited about it," Carroll told O’Neill. “I think we had an outstanding 'staff' season ... it's a great group, and I feel very fortunate that we put it together like we have. It's an excellent group of guys."
There is just a little bit of carryover from Jim Mora’s staff. Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and defensive line coach Dan Quinn were kept. Pretty much everyone else was run off. Now, the coaching staff along with new general manager John Schneider will have to put a plan in place in the span of about three weeks. Let the heavy lifting begin.
