Biggs: Injury-ravaged Panthers grab Landri
The Indianapolis Colts have missed out on another defensive lineman in the NFL’s waiver system, one of the pitfalls of being undefeated.
The Colts put in a claim for tackle Derek Landri, who was waived by Jacksonville, but he was awarded to the injury-ravaged Carolina Panthers today.
The Panthers lost Tank Tyler to injured reserve after he injured his knee in Sunday’s loss at the New York Jets, the 10th player to go to IR for them this season.
Landri, a fifth-round draft pick from Notre Dame in 2007 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, was not being used a lot. He was inactive the last four weeks and played in only seven games, making 13 tackles. Reports indicate he had added 20 pounds to get to 6-2, 290 in hopes of being an everydown player.
The Colts recently missed out on Matt Roth after he was waived by Miami. Waiver claims are conducted in reverse order of the standings.
