Biggs: Lions claim S White off waivers from Dallas

The Detroit Lions have claimed safety Marvin White off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

White was one of the final cuts by the Cincinnati Bengals, who tried to trade him before the Sept. 5 deadline to reach the 53-man limit. The Cowboys promptly scooped White up off waivers, but the moved him out on Saturday to make room for running back Chauncey Washington, who was promoted from the practice squad. It could have been that Dallas was hoping to get White back, but that opportunity didn’t materialize when the Lions staked a claim for him.

Detroit has issues in its secondary. Rookie free safety Louis Delmas looks like a nice building block for the future, but veteran strong safety Marquand Manuel was benched Sunday at Chicago in favor of Ko Simpson. The Lions have struggled all season vs. the pass.

Washington, by the way, was placed on waivers by the Cowboys.
