Biggs: Patrick to get 2nd round tender from Arizona
The tight end isn’t a big part of the passing game in Arizona, but the Cardinals are going to ensure that they do not lose an up-and-comer at the position. The team is expected to send the second round qualifying tender to Ben Patrick before Thursday’s deadline, according to a league source.
Patrick played in nine games last season, making seven starts, and caught 12 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. He’s considered a developing blocker and will give the Cardinals some continuity on offense as the team works to revamp the defense.
The Cardinals had to go with a higher tender for Patrick as he was originally a seventh-round draft pick from Delaware, and they could have faced challenges from other teams looking to sign him away as an RFA.
