Biggs: Really, Winfield might play on Sunday
We’ve heard it before: Antoine Winfield is poised to return from his right foot injury that has kept him out nearly two months.
Winfield has been on the verge of returning to action multiple times now, and the cornerback is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with the Cincinnati Bengals at the Metrodome. But it could happen this time. It might really happen.
"I think this is the week I finally get back out there and get some action," Winfield said. "We'll see how warmups go and hopefully I'm up."
When Winfield was originally injured, he was supposed to miss four to six weeks. He was on the outer edge of that timetable when he suffered a setback two days before the Vikings hosted the Chicago Bears on Nov. 29.
"I still feel it a little bit but it's not as bad," he said. "The pain I can work through."
If there is one person who wants to see him on the field it is the always loquacious Chad Ochocinco, who heaped praise on Winfield this week when he called him “one of the most complete” cover men in the NFL.
