Biggs: Redskins cleared of tampering with Haynesworth
The NFL said it could not conclude that the Washington Redskins committed tampering in landing prized free-agent defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth in free agency.
The Redskins landed Haynesworth at the very outset of free agency, signing him to a $100 million, seven-year contract that includes $41 million guaranteed. The Titans had accused Washington of going to work early on Haynesworth.
The Redskins have also assured the league it will review anti-tampering rules with club officials in the future.
The league said it completed an “extensive review.” Tampering is a very difficult charge to prove.
