Biggs: Redskins deny Snyder purchased alligator desks

Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is peeved and it’s not because his team has swung and missed when it comes to a major free agent. His team is expected to be a big spender starting in, oh, about 58 hours or so.

Snyder is hacked off that the New York Post has reported that Snyder purchased a pair of alligator desks from a furniture for use at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

“The story is crazy,” Snyder said in a release sent out by the team. “I don’t even own a pair of alligator shoes.”

The team’s CEO Dave Donovan demanded a retraction from the Post: “Number one, Dan does not have an office at FedExField. Second, he has no need for new desks at any of his offices. We are demanding a retraction from The New York Post.

“It appears the New York furniture store was trying to promote its grand opening by using Dan Snyder’s name in a conversation with a reporter. The store should be embarrassed about making up a story in order to sell furniture.”

The Post’s story said Snyder dropped $600,000 on the desks along with matching alligator-skin chairs. The store in question is Giorgio’s of Palm Beach on Madison Avenue. The report states the delivery will be made in six weeks.
