Biggs: Redskins will keep Jackson to coach safeties
Mike Shanahan’s coaching staff in Washington continues to come together as the Washington Post reported that safeties coach Steve Jackson will be a carryover from the Jim Zorn era. Jackson has been with the Redskins since the start of the second coming of Joe Gibbs.
This move comes on the heels of the departure of Jerry Gray to the Seattle Seahawks. Gray was considered for the defensive coordinator position with the Redskins that went to Jim Haslett. He’ll coach the defensive backs in Seattle, and it’s believed he probably could have kept that role in Washington.
Special teams coach Danny Smith is also expected to be retained along with linebackers coach Kirk Olivadotti, who will carry the title of a defensive assistant under Haslett.
