Biggs: Rosenhaus says Browns claim Matt Roth
Matt Roth will land with the Cleveland Browns.
That’s what his agent Drew Rosenhaus reported via his Twitter account this afternoon, so someone from the Browns’ front office must have informed him the move will happen.
Roth, a second-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2005, was placed on waivers Tuesday afternoon. Roth had a bizarre injury during the summer that kept him out of training camp, and his relationship with the Dolphins was strained.
He could be a good fit as an outside linebacker for the Browns, who run a 3-4 scheme like Miami does. Roth is in the final year of his contract but will be a restricted free agent if there is not an extension of the collective bargaining agreement. The Browns will get a six-week look at Roth to decide what they want to do moving forward.
The NFL will officially award players via the waiver system a little later this afternoon.
