Biggs: Sharper gets his wish
Without naming the Minnesota Vikings as the team he wanted to face in the NFC Championship Game, Darren Sharper did just that Saturday night in the Superdome.
“You know who I want,” the New Orleans Saints safety said.
That would be the Vikings, the team he played for in the previous four seasons. The team that deemed him disposable in free agency, something he’s challenged loudly this season by tying for the NFL lead with nine interceptions.
"It would add a little bit to it, a little more excitement,” Sharper told the New Orleans Times-Picayune Sunday morning before the Vikings steamrolled the Dallas Cowboys. “You know, I'll be familiar with a lot of faces across the football field.’’
The game will pit Sharper vs. Brett Favre, who he played with for eight seasons in Green Bay.
"It's funny how it can transpire that we have a chance to meet each other to go to the Super Bowl," said Sharper, 34. "Yeah, I had a chance to talk to him when he was thinking about going to Minnesota, and I told him, 'Listen, if you go there, you guys have a Super Bowl-caliber team. You've got all the pieces in place."
The piece Sharper wanted is in place now. It’s going to be time for him to do something, though, when it comes to the Vikings being Super Bowl ready.
