Biggs: Urlacher finally gets cast off
Brian Urlacher is on the road to recovery.
Chicago’s middle linebacker finally had the cast removed from his right wrist in the last two weeks, finally putting him in the rehabilitation stage for his injury, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Urlacher suffered a dislocated wrist in the season opener at Green Bay and has missed all but the first two quarters of the season.
"I'm getting movement back in my wrist, just doing really well," Urlacher told the Tribune. "I'm pumped up. It's so great not to have to worry about that cast."
There were some questions at the time of the injury why he was going to need to miss the entire season. Some thought the Bears should have kept him on the 53-man roster at least with a playoff return in mind. Of course, the Bears will not be playing after the season finale Jan. 3 at Detroit, and Urlacher is just getting into rehab where he is going to need to strengthen that wrist, hand and arm.
As poorly as the Bears (5-9) have played, Urlacher will certainly be a big part of the team’s plans for a comeback in 2010.
