Biggs: Vegas seeing big action on Colts
LAS VEGAS—The big money is going on the Indianapolis Colts.
How big? Real big.
I saw an upset patron get turned away from the window at the sports book at Mandalay Bay Thursday night. Seems he wanted to place a wager on a halftime score for an NBA game that exceeded the casino’s limit. So, I asked how big one could go with a bet on the Super Bowl.
“You could bet a million dollars,” I was told.
I could, but I left my savings in Chicago and, well, I’m missing a couple commas in my account. But that hasn’t stopped others. Matt Youmans of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the big dogs have been getting down on the Colts already.
According to Youmans, poker pro Phil Ivey has joined forces with Billy Walters, a Las Vegas professional, to place a $2 million money-line bet on Indianapolis to win Super Bowl XLIV at about minus-200. Another professional gambler from South Florida has been approved for a $1 million wager at M Resort. Youmans said some of the pros are covering themselves by playing the Colts on the money line and then wagering the Saints with the points.
