Biggs: Vikings fans spring for Favre billboard in Mississippi

Minnesota Vikings fans are making their feelings known in Hattiesburg, Miss.

They want No. 4 back and they’ve got a billboard to prove they do.

There is considerable speculation about whether or not Brett Favre will return for a second season with the purple and gold, and there will be for some time, right? But Vikings fans have banded together to let him know how they feel.

They’ve ponied up for a digital billboard on U.S. 98 West in the city as of Monday night, according to a report in the Hattiesburg American.

“Hey #4, do Minnesota fans love you and want you back next year? You Brettcha!" the ad reads. It’s in purple, of course.

It all started with a Facebook group and the movement took off. The group is adding more than 10,000 members a day and apparently collecting enough money to put the word out on Favre where he lives.

“I had no idea what to expect,” founder Jay Tappe, of Minneapolis, told the American. “We have enough to keep the billboard up for at least another week. We’ll try to keep it up for about a month. It’s crazy.”

Crazy, indeed. Just as crazy as Favre’s agent Bus Cook releasing photos of Favre’s bruised ankle and hamstring after the NFC Championship Game.
