Biggs: Warner officially retires

Kurt Warner made it official.

He has announced his retirement from the NFL after 12 seasons, two MVP awards and a Super Bowl championship.

Warner is holding a press conference at the Arizona Cardinals facility right now. He helped lead the franchise to its only Super Bowl appearance just last season.

Warner went through a long list of people he wanted to thank. His story of coming from the Arena League where he once worked as a stock boy at a grocery story is a remarkable one. Warner holds numerous Super Bowl and postseason records.

Now, the Cardinals will have to do something that might make them a little uneasy, turn to former first-round draft pick Matt Leinart. The downtrodden NFC West just got worse.

“You’re always going to miss Sunday afternoons, but the thing I will miss most is the five or six hours in the locker room with guys every day,” he said. “That will be the hardest thing for me to replace, that time. To all my teammates, I greatly appreciate that and I thank you for everything.”
