Biggs: Westbrook could return this week

As the Philadelphia Eagles put the finishing touches on their playoff push, they could be getting running back Brian Westbrook back.

The Delaware County Times reports that team officials quietly confirmed that Westbrook could return this week against San Francisco. Westbrook has suffered two concussions this season, and has missed six of the last seven games, including the last four.

Westbrook is reportedly trying out a special DNA helmet that is reportedly better at handling blows.

This will be a story that is closely watched. Doctors said that Westbrook did not return too soon after being knocked out in a game at Washington—he was out three weeks—and there is always an increased chance for the next concussion. The league is keeping a much closer watch on the injuries and while Westbrook has done everything, including meeting with specialists, there is no way he is not at risk.

Stay tuned.
