Bill Belichick downplays Darrelle Revis leaving Patriots

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick downplayed the departure of star cornerback Darrelle Revis, via a blockbuster contract to the New York Jets. The deal included $39 million guaranteed. "It’s NFL free agency," Belichick told reporters. "Players leave teams and go to teams in free agency every year. That’s not a big story.” Why not pick up the option? "It’s NFL free agency," Belichick said. "We do what we think is best for our football team.” What about Revis' contributions? "I’ve talked about him at length," Belichick said. "I’ll talk about the players that are on our team.” Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider Aaron Wilson covers the Ravens for The Baltimore Sun
