Bill O'Brien interviewing Romeo Crennel

Once the Texans fired Wade Phillips, Romeo Crennel's name began popping up as a potential replacement.

Speculation may have turned to reality, as the Houston Chroncle is reporting that newly hired Texans head coach Bill O'Brien will interview Crennel for the open job.

The Chronicle also reports that Crennell is the frontrunner for the position.

Crennel was most recently the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, before getting fired following the 2012 regular season. Most of Crennel's success in the NFL has been as a defensive coordinator, most prominently when he was in that position under Bill Belichick in New England from 2001-2004.

During that span, Crennel led the New England defense that helped the franchise win three Super Bowl titles.
