Bills drop LB Bryan Scott and QB Thad Lewis

The Buffalo Bills released Matt Leinart on Friday, and on Saturday they said goodbye to quarterback Thad Lewis, whom they had acquired from the Detroit Lions.

With undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel set to start the opening game, the Bills are down to just one healthy quarterback, barring a pickup off waivers, which is a possibility because the Bills' website reports that the team has only 50 players currently on its roster.

Rookie E.J. Manuel, who is projected as the long-term starter, is hampered by a knee injury, and Kevin Kolb's season was ended by being placed on injured reserve with a concussion.

There was immediate speculation in some circles that the Bills might take a flier on Tim Tebow, who was one of a number of QBs let go over the weekend in final cuts. Others included Vince Young (the Bills have been there, done that), Jimmy Clausen, Greg McElroy, Rusty Smith and Mike Kafka.

The Bills also parted ways with long-time linebacker Bryan Scott, who had been a key contributor on defense for a number of years.
