Bills' Fitzpatrick, Browns' Jackson earn AFC monthly honors
Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been honored as the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, while linebacker D'Qwell Jackson of the Cleveland Browns is the Defensive Player of the Month.
Fitzpatrick has helped lead a Bills revival with a 3-0 start, complete with rallying Buffalo from a 21-0 deficit last Sunday to defeat the New England Patriots for the first time since 2003.
Fitzpatrick completed 72 of 111 passes (64.9 percent) for 841 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. His 103.5 passer rating is second in the NFL and the Bills lead the lead in scoring at 37.7 points per game.
Jackson has 30 tackles, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for the Browns. Cleveland's defense has an AFC-best 11 sacks and is allowing just 187.3 yards passing per game as well.
Jackson is the first Browns player to win Defensive Player of the Month since safety Eric Turner in December 1994.
