Bills, Fitzpatrick close in on new deal
Multiple reports, including one from NFL.com's Jason LaCanfora, say that the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick are closing in on a new contract extension.
The pace of those contract negotiations have picked up within the last month, and Fitzpatrick could be on the verge of agreeing to deal that would average around $10 million per season to remain in Buffalo.
That would be quite a bump in salary for the quarterback, who is currently in the final year of a $6.9 million package that is paying him $3.1 million in base salary this year.
Fitzpatrick and running back Fred Jackson have been at the front of an offensive revival for the Bills that has helped them to a 4-2 record thus far in 2011.
