Bills' Johnson apologizes to Burress

Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson, who mockingly acted like he shot himself in the leg following a touchdown, has apologized to New York Jets receiver Plaxico Burress for the gesture that also drew a 15-yard penalty.

“I just sent him a text message and he responded and everything is cool,” Johnson said via the Bills website. “Between me and him it is (smoothed over). It’s an unfortunate situation with me being immature like that, but I got in touch with him and he responded and it’s cool.”

It could be "cool" with Burress, who spent 20 months in prison after shooting himself in the leg in a nightclub, because he and the Jets got the last laugh with a 28-24 victory, and Johnson's penalty for excessive celebration helped to set up one of those TD drives.
