Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman will miss the remainder of the 2011 season with an Achilles injury that could need surgery.

The Bills announced on their website that Merriman would be placed on injured reserve.

Buffalo hasn't gotten much from Merriman since claiming him off waivers from San Diego last year. He went on injured reserve in 2010 with th Achilles injury before he ever saw action in a gam for the Bills last season.
