Bills still hoping Merriman can play in opener
The Buffalo Bills are hopeful that linebacker Shawn Merriman's groin injury will have healed in time for him to be back by the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Merriman practiced Thursday, but is iffy for Saturday night against Jacksonville in a preseason game that has been blacked out locally. If Merriman can play against the Jags, that is fine. However, the goal is for Merriman to be on the field when the games count.
That isn't the only defensive shuffling going on in Buffalo, according to Rodney McKissic of the Buffalo News. Linebacker Reggie Torbor was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. And his scheduled replacement – veteran linebacker Kirk Morrison – was not at practice Thursday, as he apparently did not sign his deal until Friday.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Marcel Dareus has shed his crutches after being kicked in the calf during practice.
