Birk returns to Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens announced that center Matt Birk will return to the team with an undisclosed contract extension.
The move brings Birk back to Baltimore as he enters his 15th NFL season and fourth with the Ravens.
“One of the things we said earlier this offseason is that we were going to focus attention on the offensive line, and getting Matt Birk back is key for us,” Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome stated. “He is a top player, his intelligence is obvious, and he is a leader on and off the field.”
Birk has started 96 consecutive games, which is the NFL’s second-longest active streak among centers.
