Blaine Gabbert: 'I'm not here to entertain anybody'
It’s all fun and competition for the candidates being considered for the No. 1 overall pick, right?
Blaine Gabbert made sure he took advantage of his opportunity to light up fellow quarterback Cam Newton just a little bit. After his pro day workout today at Missouri that has drawn strong reviews, Gabbert was asked what separates him from the other passers in the draft?
“My sole focus is on football," Gabbert said, according to Dave Matter of the Columbia Daily Tribune. “I'm not here to entertain anybody. I'm here to get the playbook and throw the football.”
So, I guess we can assume Gabbert also doesn’t consider himself an icon then, right?
Gabbert threw the ball well and draft analysts have said this has bolstered his stock. The Carolina Panthers are going to go in for a close look this weekend when they put Gabbert through a private workout. That means he won’t be working off the script that Terry Shea, his quarterbacks coach, had prepared for the pro day. The Panthers’ brass and coaches will be able to direct the throws Gabbert must make to impress them.
