Bobby Rainey has breakout game

Since training camp, running back Bobby Rainey has been on three teams.

He began the preseason with the Ravens, but the team released him before the regular season started. The Cleveland Browns then claimed Rainey off of waivers, only to release him later in the year.

The Buccaneers then claimed Rainey off of waivers, with the second-year back out of Western Kentucky being listed fourth on the depth chart. But injuries to Doug Martin and Mike James in recent weeks opened up an opportunity for Rainey against the Falcons on Sunday.

Rainey took advantage of it and rumbled for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a receiving touchdown.

The Buccaneers are in the midst of a poor season, though this could be a silver lining. The depth at running back and the ability of the offensive line to create holes has to be encouraging for an offense that made a quarterback change mid-season.

Tampa Bay's 2013 season is lost. But perhaps this could be a positive sign for the future.
